Eurocommissaris blogt referendumcommentaar

Medy van der Laan, staatssecretaris voor OC&W, heeft geen tijd voor een weblog (tegen R-win: "en de discipline ontbreekt me en ik wil de kinderen ook nog zien buiten mijn 15-urige werkdag"), Margot Wallström heeft wel tijd. Wallström, de enige eurocommissaresse met een weblog, becommentarieert de twee negatieve referenda over het grondwettelijk verdrag:


"(...) This text took so many years to negotiate, I don‘t think anyone will have the courage or a realistic belief in reopening a negotiation with 25 Member States involved again. What would that bring? This was a very difficult process and at the same time the most open and transparent process we have ever had. So I think this will take time. (...) Communication is not only about giving information. We in the EU have not been good at listening, and we have to work in a way where we are better at listening to citizens, and communicating with them. We have to be able to defend what we do in Europe, in the Council, the European Parliament and in the Commission, but also in the Member States. (...)"
