Skype met video

Planet Multimedia over Skype Video (al is dat geen officiele productnaam):

"(...) Fysiek was Zennstrom niet aanwezig bij de AlwaysOn conference aan de Stanford University in Palo Alto in Californië. Hij gaf een toespraak via een videotelefonieproduct dat Skype op deze manier wilde testen Skype. Skype zelf noemt de test geslaagd. (...)"

Momenteel is Skype Video al wel mogelijk, maar dan via externe programma's als Vskype of Video4IM.

Corantes Stowe Boyd (Mac-gebruiker) peinst welke IM-client voor hem de beste zou zijn:

"(...) That has become the number two instant messaging solution for me, and often an IM chat in iChat becomes an audio call in Skype. I am considering swithching to Skype as my primary conduit, and most likely will do so when the video capability is debuted, later this year. (...)"

Update:
En kennelijk wil de Verenigde Naties al zijn medewerkers aan het Skypen krijgen. Dat is althans de strekking van een interne VN-mail die op Skypes weblog wordt geciteerd:

"(...) My wife works in one of the agencies of the United Nations (U.N.) at New Delhi. Yesterday their worldwide headquarters, which is based in Geneva has sent across an email announcing the adoption of Skype by their offices across the world, as a means of communication between the headquarter and all field units. (...)"
